Lord of the Rings ambushed me out of nowhere. I've been a gamer since 1995; I'm well-versed in "MERP", the MiddleEarth Role Playing game. I've read the books far too many times, and I was determined to hate the movies, for how could they adequately represent J.R.R. Tolkien's fantastic universe? Then I watched "The Fellowship of the Ring", already delighted that Sean Bean would be in it, and fell for Peter Jackson's world. Hard. Boromir, who had always been a secondary character in the books, suddenly became one of the movies' shining heroes; three-dimensional, tormented and yet so real by Sean Bean's mere presence on the screen. With Aragorn, it was the same - the stern, distant paragon of kingly virtues from the books turned into a ragged ranger with matted hair and honest-to-God emotions written on his face. How could I not love them? How could I not start scouring the internet for stories about them?

Review: No, this is not a story fit to help one get over the final scene in the first movie, although somehow strangely it is. Kirby Crow turns events upside down, and the result is oh so bittersweet. The slash is only hinted at, but the story says more by saying less than many longer stories I know. Impressive and original.

Review: The whole series is perfectly balanced on the edge of mourning. Nothing is ever easy, and nothing is without a price. While I felt the impact of each individual story deeply, this version is the most melancholy one with a look into a possible future that is so very believable, and a characterization I admire.

Review: Osheen Nevoy's grasp of Tolkien's universe - and especially Gondor - is unparalleled. Reading this novel is like finding a lost work of J. R. R. Tolkien himself. She concentrates on Boromir, and by necessity the other characters are often reduced to cameo appearances. As a Boromir fan, you don't miss them, though, especially since she makes Minas Tirith come alive with her words. This story is truly about Boromir's White City, and it is as beautiful as the picture he painted of her that night in Lothlórien.

Zed shows us the circling thoughts, the impotent pain and fury, with just a few well-placed paragraphs. Painful, but apt and well-written.

Review: plasticChevy has stolen my heart, and oh, how I don't miss it! Her stories are of the rarest kind - the ones you can read countless times and still never grow tired of. They're not only focused on Boromir, but also on his deep friendship with Aragorn. No, they are not slash, but as long as I get to read something like this, I don't need slash. Boromir. Aragorn. Gondor. A whole new universe of "what-if", and a so much brighter world. Simply amazing.

Review: Your Cruise Director is perhaps the most prolific author of A/B fan fiction on the internet. She has the characters down pat, she knows how to paint a picture of their emotions in just a few sentences, and she adheres to canon most of the time no matter how painful it is. I just wish she were inclined to write longer stories! Nonetheless, all her fiction is worth checking out, with these two stories just its best examples.
