profiler fan fiction

Profiler and Millenium started at about the same time and seemed to be very similar at first. Each week there was a new case, a new psychological/psychotic twist, a new killer, and a new race against time. But Profiler managed what its rival couldn't - it made me identify with its characters. I started to care about Sam Waters' struggle to stay one step ahead of "Jack-of-all-Trades", the serial killer who'd fixated on her, and about Bailey's efforts to protect his team. Unfortunately, the show underwent quite a lot of changes in its second season and as a result, not surprisingly didn't manage to keep its promise and present us with a decent resolution to the "Jack"-storyline. Furthermore, the fact that despite their clearly present feelings for each other, Sam and Bailey didn't get together in the end made all SBR (= SamBaileyRomance) fans foam at the mouth. The show's last season with Rachel Burke as the new profiler is not even worth mentioning.

The main pairing on this page is
Sam Waters & Bailey Malone.

Title: Every Waking Moment Story Length: ~ 133 KB
Series: none Rating: R
Category: Het Warnings: adult themes
Pairing: Sam Waters & Bailey Malone Time Frame: Season 2
Genres: Action/Adventure, Drama, Friendship, Hurt/Comfort, Romance Recommended: 25 May 2000
Summary: With the VCTF team still no closer to Jack than before, Sam and Bailey soon discover that changing their relationship from friendship to romance raises the stakes even more.
Review: I must admit my taste in fiction has changed since my first "Profiler" days. I am not sure I'd recommend this story today. In contrast to the main fare of SBR fiction out there, it is comparatively well-written, has a plot and attempts to avoid Mary-Sueish undertones in the author's portrayal of Sam Waters. Perhaps I'm just not a romantic anymore. Judge for yourselves.

Rimau

Title: The Favor offsite Story Length: ~ 29 KB
Series: none Rating: R
Category: Slash Warnings: none
Pairing: John Grant / George Frailey Time Frame: Season 2
Genres: Angst, Drama Recommended: 23 May 2000
Summary: John is being "stalked" by Frances and needs George's help to get her off his back.
Review: Until I stumbled across Rimau's story, I couldn't understand how anyone could bring slash into that series - I could only see Sam and Bailey and the attraction between them. Rimau's John is desperate, embarrassed, inexperienced and sweet, and while I would very much like a plot-heavy sequel, this story answers some of my questions about George's character.
