Starsky joins Big Brothers and befriends a little boy who captures both his and Hutch's hearts. When the boy's father reappears in his life, Starsky's emotional state is pushed to the limit as he suspects the boy is being abused. Hutch sets out to find the causes of the heartaches in both Starsky's and Timmy's lives. (Set after Gunther's attack)
